Steven Biskupic published an article in the Wisconsin Lawyer entitled, “Federal Attorneys: The Road Since the Civil War,” in which he recounts the inauspicious records of Wisconsin’s early U.S. Attorneys, the changes wrought by President Grant in the 1870s, and a recently deceased Milwaukee lawyer who exemplified the best qualities of federal prosecutors.
